It’s time to Rethink School Meals. Good work is going on in schools across the country. Let’s start by recognizing Child Nutrition Professionals who are making a difference and changing how we think about school meals.
Robert Scott
Chesapeake, VA
Joanne Kinsey, Director of School Nutrition Services for the Chesapeake Public Schools in Virginia, had an idea to use a bus to deliver lunches to students throughout the summer. The district transportation officials said OK, but with one caveat: the bus had to be in use year round.
Robert Scott made Joanne’s idea come to life. He designed, engineered and worked hard to turn an ordinary school bus into the Cruisin’ Café / Nutrition Express, a one-of-a-kind mobile nutrition education learning lab. Thanks to Robert’s hard work on the Cruisin’ Café and dedication to the students in the district, nutrition education is more fun and memorable for everyone.
Anna
Phoenix, AZ
Everyday across the country, Child Nutrition Professionals go to work behind counters and behind the scene. They play a critical role, ensuring that students have the healthy food they need to learn and grow. But they don’t always get the thanks and recognition they deserve. We decided to change that.
We’re traveling around the country to surprise and thank these everyday heroes that are making a difference. Heroes like Anna, at Cartwright School District in Arizona. Anna works every day to make a difference in her students’ lives.
